BLM Girls Experience LA – RECAP!
There are a number of great things I can say about the BLM Girls Experience in Los Angeles. The first of which was having the opportunity to work with Janae Holmes. She’s the blogger at NaturallyCurlyKinky.com and she’s just a really great human being! She’s not only a “can do” kinda girl, but she’s a “will do” kinda girl! Love her!
Our time together began right off the bat with our branding presentation. Janae and I led a presentation and facilitated discussion around the topic of branding and how to make the best use of your precious time. The Girls were given a pink (of course) folder with handouts to take home and apply right away. There were several really great questions about ways to incorporate SEO tips into our blogs and Janae even offered to give a little one on one help.
Next, we switched gears and got to know a little bit about each other through a series of questions and a short video to allow us to reflect on what we think about ourselves and how this is received by others we encounter. Along these lines we also talked about the importance of staying connected. We talked about how valuable relationships in our lives area and why it’s so important to make them a priority. We took a moment to pick up our cell phones, scroll through our contacts and find a couple of people we had been meaning to reach out to and send one of them a text message to say hello. Using the BLM “Thinking of You” postcards, we wrote notes to a few other special people to remind them that we are thinking of them.
We put our branding hats back on and put some thought into our vision and made vision boards to remind us why we’re doing what we’re doing! To remind us of what we need to do to get to where we want to be. We grabbed magazines, colored paper, markers, glue sticks and went to work.
Our night culminated with a toast while we watched the toast video.
The only bummer is that I didn’t take more pictures!
From the looks of it, the BLM Girl Experience events in New York, Atlanta and DC were just as successful! I’m looking forward to our next chance to catch up at another BLM event.

FASHION du Jon: DAY 4
Pardon the brief hiatus, the hubs and I were in Santa Barbara celebrating our 5 year anniversary so for good reason I wasn’t posting. We had an amazing time and it was such a great getaway. I’ll be sharing some of our adventures in another post. For now, let’s pick up where we left off with FASHION du Jon: DAY 4.
What I’m Wearing: top -unknown | belt – random | shoes – modcloth.com
So, the picture does NOT do this outfit justice by any means. It was actually very cute, but this picture makes it look sloppy. I liked this outfit so much so that I gave this outfit 5 FASHION du jour thumbs up!
What say you my friends?

White (even after Labor Day) is Right!
I managed to squeeze this in right before Labor Day. Although, I hear that the no-white-after-Labor Day law is a joke in California since we pretty much wear whatever, whenever! Consider this your cue to pack it up and move on down to California.
Special thanks to Jazzy from Ohio for submitting this Copy Cat Challenge idea. While Jazzy doesn’t have a blog she is an “avid follower of all things fashion”. I laughed when I read her email because she didn’t know who the celebrity was…sadly enough neither do I. I hope I did your submission justice, Jazzy!
