D.I.Y. Earrings

A friend of mine is moving to Seattle and in the process of moving out she’s found herself with all kinds of great decor pieces with no home.  I I begged came to the rescue and offered to take a bulk of her stuff.  She was so generous in giving it to me so who was I to say no.  I’m so lucky!  One of the items she gave me was a colorful canvas bag with a neon speckled red swatch of cotton fabric on it.  It screamed “SUMMER!”  I loved the bright summer fabric and knew that it would go perfectly with some of the items in my wardrobe.  While I had been playing with other DIY ideas for one of those days when the kids take longer naps than normal, I couldn’t pass this one up.  I had to do it, now.  It ended up taking no time at all.  I actually made it on my lunch break.  Here’s what I made and how:

{Oh and I’ve been trying this new red lipstick and, well, the jury’s still out.}

You'll need: scissors | Elmer's adhesive spray | flat earrings | fabric swatch 4x6 recommended
1 - Cut out 2 rectangles each just large enough to completely cover the entire earring when folded over. 2. - Then spray the wrong side of the fabric with the glue spray
3. Place an earring on the wet fabric and fold the fabric over so that you are left with what look like a rectangular earring.
4. Place something of substantial weight on the earrings for 15 minutes to dry

Pretty easy right?  Give it a shot, I know you’ll come up with some brilliant looks.

  1. I LOVE your ideas!! Im really going to try this one…I want to do the DIY clutch so bad! Cant find the 2×2 pillow case tho, where did you get yours?

    1. HAHAHAHA! SUPER easy! You can use old table cloth, fabric napkins, lace doilies (that might be really cute) wall paper, contact paper (would be super easy) the possibilities are endless.

  2. AWESOME! Can’t wait to try this out with some of the fabric and older earrings just sitting… waitin for me to do something with.

    iHEART your look! The red lipstick is totally FAB on you. Diggin the polish colour and the hair- which is exactly how I’m wearing mine right now 😉 #hairtwins *hehehe*

    Great post!

    1. HAHAHA! I’d love to see what you come up with! 🙂

      I don’t typically do lips, but I figured the pants are so bright they might tone down the lip. LOL NOT! I love wearing my hair like this. It makes me feel like my face looks thin. One chin not two. LOL

    1. You know, I really tried to like them. I would put them on almost daily, but they just didn’t hang right. I can’t put my finger on exactly what the problem was, they were just wrong. LOL
