FASHIONISTA DU JOUR: Chichi

About Chichi…

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is comfort. I wear things I feel comfortable in, not because they’re in vogue but something that is comfortable yet chic. It also depends on my mood- but mostly I would describe my personal style as casual smart.

What’s something about you that people wouldn’t expect?

I am addicted to Tv series. I have watched so many series I have lost count. Maybe that’s the reason why I have started writing my own movie script. Honestly I think I need an intervention otherwise my eyeballs will soon pop out.lol

Have you ever considered moving to the US?  Why or why not?

Moving, no- I am patriotic, I love my country. Tanzania is currently going through a hard time but I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Having said that, it doesn’t mean I don’t want to visit the US, on the contrary I would love to visit Hollywood some day {fingers crossed}.

What drives your passion as a journalist to do what you do?

As a Journalist, I consider myself as the voice of the voiceless, plus I interact with a lot of fascinating and new people.  That, I guess, is one of the really nice things about the job.

If money were no option, what would you be doing this very moment?

Exploring the world- but I guess you need money to do that* Wink

FASHIONISTA du jour: Shalanda Turner

FASHIONISTA du jour has been on vacation for a little bit because yours truly has been pretty busy with the ol’ 9 to 5.  Excuses aside, I’ve had the great opportunity to get to know several of you a little better through our conversations over email and I’m looking forward to sharing you with the world by featuring you very very soon.  You’ll be seeing this feature more often now and I’m going to be switching up the look of it so stay tuned.  Well, enough of the business, lets get to why you’re really here, and that’s to meet September’s FASHIONISTA du jour.  I’d like you to meet, Shalanda Turner:

WHAT SHE’S WEARING:  top: Express | skirt: H&M | necklace: New York & Co | shoes: Rampage

WHAT SHE’S WEARING: skirt: H&M | handbag: New York & Co| top: Express | shoes: Paris Hilton

Clearly this 27 year old bombshell’s got mile long legs and a gorgeous figure, but beyond her outward beauty, Shalanda’s got brains too!  I loved learning that Shasie {as her friends call her} has a Chemical Engineering degree.  She jokingly calls herself a Engineer by day and a Fashionista by night.  She’s artsy and creative and has been offering styling tips to her family and friends for as long as she can remember.  She also blogs and sews!  Sounds like a girl you want to have on your team.  I asked her a few questions:

1. How would you describe your personal style? My personal style modern frugalista. I like classic and trendy pieces, but I’m not willing to spend an arm and a leg for them. I don’t really wear a lot of vintage.

2. What’s something about you that people wouldn’t expect? My favorite tv shows are Xena Warrior Princess and Smallville

3. If you knew then what you know now….(what would that word of advice be?): Be guarded when heading into love, don’t be naive

4. What drives your passion to do what you do? As far as engineering the possibilty of becoming really successful and being recognized in the industry. For fashion blogging: Just the love of fashion, and the excitement of displaying my outfits to people all around the world

5. If money were no option, what would you be doing this very moment? I’d be living in a beach house somewhere.

FASHIONISTA du jour: Tiffany Stewart

Have you ever met someone online, be it a twitter follower, a blog subscriber, a facebook friend, who you just really click with. My girl, Tiffany, is one of those people.  She’s what the people in the south call, “good folk” {I’m pretty sure I just made that up…they call it something like that}.  Tiffany is so kind in nature and just looking at her you can tell she’s a big ol’ sweetheart in a little ol’ sweetheart’s body.  Friends know her as Tiffany Chanelle.  Although she’s happily single, Tiffany has found love in her twin goddaughters.  There’s nothing this 31 year old high school English teacher from Chi-town can’t do.  I’d like you to meet, Tiffany Stewart…

WHAT SHE’S WEARING; Jacket: Member’s Only | Jeans: Armani Exchange | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse: Coach

WHAT SHE’S WEARING:  Dress: Arden B | Leggings: F21 | Clutch: stolen from mom | Shoes: Puma sequin flats

I asked Tiffany a few questions and this is what I found out…

What drove your passion become an English teacher?

I became an English teacher because I love to read and love, love, love to write. I have instilled this in some of my students. I adore my students who still keep in contact with me. I know that I have done a great job when I get invited to college graduations.

What’s something about you that people wouldn’t expect?

I am the clumsiest person on the face of the Earth. I just knocked over about 6 styrofoam coolers at Walgreens. I drop stuff everyday in class, my kids are used to it now.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as quirky and classic. I love retro Adidas and Members Only jackets, but I could live in a sheath dress for the rest of my life if I had to. And if it sparkles, I want it.

If money were no option, what would you be doing this very moment?

Walking around in Paris, channeling Carrie Bradshaw and wearing the fiercest outfit!!

Now can you see why I adore her so?  She’s just so sweet!  Not to mention she’s clumsy like me.  The stories I could tell…

The World of Tiffany

FASHIONISTA du jour: Tiffany Chanelle

Kristin, our first FASHIONISTA, was overwhelmed by all of the wonderful things you had to say in response to her feature.  You all showed her love on Facebook, Twitter, through email…but who am I kidding, I knew you would.  So, from the bottom of my heart,  I thank you.

Now, let’s meet Tiffany.  Truth be told I haven’t know Tiffany long, but you know how you spark up a conversation with someone and before you know it, you realize that you’re just SO in sync?  Well, that’s Tiffany and the interesting thing is we’re both in different stages of our lives.  I feel like when we finally meet, it’ll almost be like two long lost friends re-uniting rather than r than two people meeting for the first time.  I guess that goes to show, when we take the time to care about someone you end up getting more out of it than you would have ever expected.   I asked Tiffany to share some things about herself and this is what she said…

What She’s Wearing:  Jacket – Member’s Only | Tee – Express | Jeans: Armani Exchange | Shoes: Steve Madden | Purse: Coach

If you knew then what you know now….(what would that word of advice be?) Girl, run!!! LOL, no seriously it would be to follow my gut instinct and not stay in situations I know are wrong for me.

What She’s Wearing:  Top worn as dress – Arden B | Leggings - F21 | Clutch – stolen from mom | Shoes {not pictured} – Puma sequin flats

I’m sure she won’t mind me telling you that she’s single, has no children (although she is a self-proclaimed fairy godmother to 5 year old twins) lives in Chicago…and she’s only 31.  Tiffany is an English teacher by trade but in the classroom she transforms into mom, counselor, social worker, nurse, coach…you name it.  Tiffany is adorable and I’m so glad to have had the chance to introduce you to her.

FASHIONISTA du jour: Tasha Robinson

I’m sure this gorgeous face looks familiar; and with good reason.  She’s Tasha of Imperfect Concepts.  I e-met Tasha while she was marketing her business and thought she had some of the most adorable fashions around.  Not only is her store choc full of designer merchandise, but everything is priced very reasonably for those of us cost-conscious shoppers, like myself.  I mean this girl’s got Gucci, Prada, YSL, pretty much everything.  I’d bet if she doesn’t have the designer vintage item you’re looking for she could find it.  She’s just that good.  Okay, okay I don’t want to tell her story for her.  I’d like you to meet, Tasha Robinson…

Tasha S. Robinson is a military brat who was internationally born but raised state side in Miami. Her family then settled in at Ft. Hood Texas where she attended high school. She is a graduate of Southern University, studied Public Relations & Communications. While in college, Tasha was compelled to put the plan in motion to open her own boutique after forming a friendship with Lorren Rhea owner of Rocks & Knocks. Imperfect Concepts Boutique was founded and opened in July of 2009 as an online vintage venture. Tasha also consults as a stylist for a select group of entertainment insiders.

What She’s Wearing:  custom sequin dress | YSL Tribute black heels

Describe your personal style? I am very boho chic; I adore Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens & Zoe Kravitz style. I channel their looks daily.

What’s something about you that people wouldn’t expect? I have tattoo’s.
Finish this sentence, “If I knew then what I know now…”  Believe in your dreams no matter what others say. When I was younger (18-22) people would tell me my ideas where stupid or whatever and I believed them. I follow my heart and what I believe daily.
What’s the best part about your life?  I give and receive LOVE daily. It is so important to share your love with other people you care about & other individuals too. I am a happier person because I realize how vital love is to life.
What tips do you have for other women in your shoes? Don’t let anyone knock you off your square. Stand tall and walk with your head high. No matter how your day is going smile and be positive.  That will get you through your lowest lows & highest highs, trust me I know.

It was so much fun getting to know a little more about Tasha.  I’m always glad to know there’s more to a girl beyond just a pretty face.  Head on over and see what’s new at Imperfect Concepts.  Here’s how you can find her:
