When it comes to growing your business, whether it’s a blog, a fashion boutique; whether you “do hair” or you sell shoe laces out of the trunk, one of the keys to making your “gig” successful is the brand you create. When I think of the word brand, I immediately think of the golden arches of McDonalds or that lonely apple on the back of seemingly every white electronic device known to man, but branding is more than meets the eye.
When you think of Nordstrom’s chances are you don’t think about the sign sitting on the front of the building or even the uber amazing semi-annual sale. Chances are you think about that experience you’ve heard of where a customer brought a tire she purchased from Pep Boys and asked to be refunded, and she was…or something like that. Point is, you immediately think about how great Nordstrom’s customer service is and subconsciously you now have a positive opinion of this company without them even flashing a commercial in your face, sending you a 10% off coupon in the mail or interrupting your Pinterest “research” with a pop-ad. A positive relationship has formed and you haven’t purchased a thing…yet.
Where am I going with this? Well, I should probably be asking you, where are YOU going with this. If you’re serious about others taking your brand seriously, then you should be coming to the BLM Girl Experience on August 31st where the topic is BUILDING YOUR BRAND THROUGH “REAL-TIONSHIPS” (as we Girls call them). This is a one event in four locations across the country. It will feature a branding presentation by an industry professional, swag bag complete with fun BLM goodies, food and beverages, and a unique opportunity to go beyond the traditional networking lines.
In fact, we’ve created a contest and are giving away 1 free ticket per event. Here’s how to enter:
1. Write a post on your blog sharing why you’d like to attend the BLM Girls Experience and let us know the location you’d like to attend. If you’re a vlogger, a video would suffice.
2. Email your post to email@example.com no later than Wednesday, August 21st 11:59 pm PST.
3. A winner will be selected and announced on Friday, August 23rd on the BLM Fan Page, Twitter, Instagram an in the BLM Group.
